- The Clinical Midwife is responsible for managing, coordinating and delivering competent midwifery care for patients and their families in the Maternity unit, using leadership and advanced skills and knowledge.
- Acts as a clinical resource and provides clinical supervision and support for Registered Midwives and Student Midwives.
- Demonstrates advanced clinical skills and competencies related to Midwifery; plans, coordinates and makes decisions within the relevant practice setting; incorporates quality and risk management within practice.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and competencies related to Midwifery.
- Advanced skills in planning, coordination, and decision-making, with the relevant practice setting.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed team leadership and mentorship skills.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision and support for junior staff and students.
The position profile notes: The Clinical Midwife is responsible for managing and coordinating and delivering competent midwifery care for patients and their families, using leadership and advanced skills and knowledge relevant to the Maternity unit. The role acts as a clinical resource and provides supervision and support for Registered Midwives and Student Midwives.

The Country Nursing & Midwifery Incentive Program is available to eligible nurses and midwives on fixed-term or permanent contracts at eligible locations, with potential support between $5,000 and $17,000 over 12 months. See the WA Country Health Service website for eligibility criteria.
Area ProfileWACHS Kimberley is the northernmost health region with about 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 language groups and 45% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander population. The region includes six hospitals and provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care and mental health services through a dedicated team.
