About the program
We're launching something truly groundbreaking – the headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) Service in Lutruwita Tasmania, and we want YOU to be a part of it

This innovative program is designed to provide young people (aged 12-25) with early detection and life-changing intervention for psychosis – a chance to make a difference when it matters most.

  • Part-time (0.5 FTE) ongoing position, offering flexible working conditions
  • The role is based in Nipaluna Hobart on the southern lands of Lutruwita Tasmania, we pay our respects to the original owners of this land the Muwinina people.

About the role
Are you a passionate psychiatrist with leadership experience ready to make a lasting impact in the lives of young people experiencing early psychosis? Join our headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) program in Lutruwita Tasmania and lead a transformative mental health service that gives young people a chance to recover and thrive.

As the Clinical Director, you'll:

  • Lead clinical services for the headspace Early Psychosis program, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for young people.
  • Provide clinical leadership and professional governance to medical staff, helping them grow and thrive in their roles.
  • Collaborate closely with managers to ensure seamless, coordinated mental health care for young people at risk or experiencing psychosis.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Tasmanian Health to ensure efficient access to emergency care and inpatient services.
  • Oversee and support the EPPIC model of care, ensuring it is implemented with high fidelity to provide the best outcomes.

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Medical qualifications and full registration with AHPRA, along with Fellowship in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
  • A proven track record in clinical psychiatry, with extensive experience in developing and implementing programs for people experiencing mental illness.
  • A strong understanding of the Tasmanian mental health sector and relevant legislation.
  • Management and administrative experience (desirable but not essential) to help lead the service and implement strategic plans.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to inspire and educate multi-disciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.

About headspace
The headspace program offers an "open door", easily accessible, early intervention service for young people wishing to obtain support for mental health or substance use issues. The headspace Early Psychosis program is a specialist service which focuses on providing comprehensive services to support young people who are at risk of developing a psychotic illness, or those who have experienced a first episode of psychosis.
