Our University client is looking for two experienced and hands-on Technical Officers to support teaching and research laboratories in heavy structures and civil infrastructure.

This is a practical, lab-based role ideal for professionals with experience in construction, mining, or civil works (e.g. councils or industry). You'll play a key role in maintaining safe and efficient operations of structural testing facilities, while also delivering training and technical support to a wide range of users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of structural testing labs, ensuring compliance with OH&S and industry standards
  • Provide expert advice and training in structural testing techniques (e.g. compressive, shear, and tensile strength testing)
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, develop standard operating procedures, and manage consumables
  • Coordinate lab inductions and safety briefings for students and staff
  • Support research projects and help commission new testing equipment
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
