About The Tech (Engineering) Specialty

The Technology Specialty is our largest and most diverse specialty, bringing together all our technical disciplines under one room—from Tech Support to Machine Learning, Platform Infrastructure to Backend Engineering. It's the home base for our technologists and engineers. This specialty guides Canva's technical evolution, defines long-term technical vision, engineering standards, and nurtures a culture of collaboration and innovation.

About The Role

In this newly created role, you'll be the operational right hand to our Technology leadership team. You'll drive clarity and momentum across programs, processes, and priorities that don't have a natural home, but have enormous impact. You'll coordinate initiatives, wrangle comms and cadences, and ensure our teams have clarity and context to execute. This is a highly cross-functional role, partnering with engineering leadership, technical program managers, and business partners to design, deliver, and scale initiatives that span teams and the broader company.

What You'd Be Doing In This Role

As Canva scales, change is part of our DNA. This will give you the flavour of the work, but it will likely evolve.

• Strategic Program Ownership: take full ownership of complex, cross-functional programs with high visibility and impact; define the problem, align stakeholders, drive execution, and deliver outcomes, especially where ownership is unclear.
• Specialty Operational Excellence: coordinate cadence, communications, and processes; continuously improve systems, workflows, and channels to keep the Technology Specialty aligned and effective.
• Cross-organisational Coordination: work on cross-company programs, partnering with business, program, and people teams to scale shared frameworks and rituals within the Technology Specialty.
• Strategic Forecasting & Innovation: identify emerging operational needs and friction points; design lightweight, scalable systems and experiments to improve collaboration at scale.

You're probably a match if

• 7+ years in Business Operations, Program, or Project Management leading strategic initiatives in medium-to-large, fast-paced organisations.
• Proven track record of driving large cross-functional programs with diverse teams from concept to completion.
• Ability to turn strategy into action by breaking down goals into milestones, deliverables, and accountabilities while maintaining high standards.
• Scrappy, adaptable operator who thrives in ambiguity and can wrangle backlog-heavy work.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, building trusted relationships across technical and non-technical teams, and influencing without authority.
• Expertise in change management and organisational communications, tailoring messages and channels for each audience.
• Ability to foster trust, alignment, and collaboration with senior leaders and teams across the organisation.
