Exciting opportunity to join one of Melbourne's largest municipalities. The City of Brimbank is the second largest municipality in metropolitan Melbourne. It's located 10 kilometres west of Melbourne and is a gateway to Melbourne's western suburbs and the region. Brimbank is highly multicultural, with half its 196,000+ residents born overseas and more than 160 languages spoken.
This fast-evolving City comprises 25 suburbs and the five key activity centres of Sunshine, St Albans, Deer Park, Sydenham and Keilor. Residents and visitors enjoy extensive community spaces, vibrant public art, libraries, and a range of amenities. Notable attractions include the Bowery Theatre in St Albans and the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre with a 24-hour gym, waterslides, heated Olympic-sized pools, and a six green star rating for sustainable design.
Brimbank is growing, with major infrastructure projects planned, including Melbourne Airport Rail, redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations, and the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan to transform Sunshine into a CBD, increasing local jobs, housing, and services.
The municipality has a large asset base and offers opportunities to innovate, plan and deliver to meet community needs. Brimbank acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land (Wurundjeri and Bunurong) and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
We are currently seeking a Full Time Temporary staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.
The role- Reporting to the Climate Emergency Coordinator, we are seeking a Utilities Management Officer who can bring:
- Specialised technical knowledge and industry expertise in the energy sector.
- Knowledge of functional utilities best practice, principles and methods.
- Understanding of Federal and State Government policies and guidelines relating to energy sector and environmental sustainability.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to set parameters, research and utilise new products, resources and/or methods for delivery of strategic objectives.
- Expert level computer competency in spreadsheets and database applications.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field.
- Demonstrated work experience and specialised technical expertise in the energy sector.
- Expert level computer literacy in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
- Local government experience is desirable.
- Rostered day off
- 36 hour working week
- Flexible work practices including hybrid working arrangements
- 16 days of personal leave per year (FTE)
- 16 weeks paid parental leave (FTE)
