Overview

Ello Care is looking for passionate and skilled Disability Support Workers to join our team in creating meaningful opportunities that empower our participants to achieve independence.

We are seeking Disability Support Workers with experience in supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities, including strong skills in emotional redirection, de-escalation, and providing compassionate, stabilising support. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support to participants, assisting them in managing challenges with empathy and fostering resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with participants to build and enhance psychosocial skills, including communication, problem-solving, and social engagement.
  • Use effective strategies to de-escalate heightened emotions and redirect behaviours in a calm and constructive manner.
  • Encourage and support participants in achieving personal goals and enhancing their independence in alignment with their NDIS plans.
  • Deliver personal care services, while ensuring sensitivity and respect for participants' dignity.
  • Support participants in engaging in recreational and community activities that promote social inclusion and emotional well-being.
  • Provide safe and reliable transport for participants to attend appointments, social activities, and other engagements.
  • Assist with household tasks, including cleaning, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with participants, their families, team members, and allied health professionals.
  • Document shift notes, incident and observation reports promptly and accurately after each shift.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate and respectful services, recognising and valuing the diverse backgrounds of participants.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations, ensuring participant safety and following organisational protocols.
  • Assist participants in developing life skills such as budgeting, time management, and self-care routines.
  • Actively engage in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of participant services.
Minimum Requirements
  • Applicants must have a current NDIS Worker Screening Check or be able to obtain one.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module, 'NDIS Quality, Safety & You,' is required.
  • A valid National Police Check issued within the last three months is essential.
  • A current First Aid Certificate, obtained within the last three years, is mandatory.
  • A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment in NSW is required.
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver's licence and have access to a fully insured and roadworthy vehicle.
  • Experience with supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities, including skills in de-escalation and emotional support.
  • A strong understanding of and respect for the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of participants is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed for accurate documentation, incident reporting, and collaboration.
  • The ability to effectively manage unpredictable situations and behaviours is critical.
  • A commitment to supporting participants in achieving their personal and capacity-building goals is essential.
