Senior Business Analyst – Melbourne, Australia

Currently, we are looking for a Senior Business Analyst based in Melbourne, Australia.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in a Business Analyst role within trading, commodities, or financial services environments
  • Strong domain knowledge in trade life cycle, market risk, and front-to-back trading workflows
  • Experience with trading or risk systems (e.g., Orchestrade, Murex, Endur, Beacon, Calypso)
  • Solid knowledge of trading concepts such as Greeks, VaR, PnL explain, trade capture, and curve management
  • Good understanding of data handling and querying (e.g., SQL, Excel, scripting for analysis)
  • Business Analysis & Functional Design – engage closely with traders, risk managers, and middle office to gather and document functional requirements related to trade booking, life cycle events, and risk reporting
  • Analyze current processes and system behaviors to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or compliance risks
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, ensuring alignment with global architecture and best practices
  • Design workflows, data flows, and use cases to support enhancement proposals and ensure traceability
  • Deeply understand and map the front-to-back trade life cycle, with a focus on pricing, Greeks, P&L explain, and valuation
  • Act as the functional bridge between business users (front office, risk, ops) and IT development teams (both local and global)
  • Define UAT test scenarios and scripts aligned with business requirements
  • Coordinate and support user testing, including data validation, regression testing, and issue resolution
  • Identify and propose system enhancements to improve automation, accuracy, and usability
  • Prior exposure to commodity trading (LNG, power, gas, emissions) is a plus
