Executive Director – Health Insights
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) is Australia's authoritative source of health and welfare data and analysis. As an independent national information and statistics agency within the Commonwealth's Health portfolio, the AIHW publishes more than 400 data products each year, maintains and administers specialised national data standards and classifications, and supports high quality research.
AIHW are seeking to fill two roles:
-Executive Director – Health Insights, SES Band 2; and
-Executive Director – Community and First Nations Insights, SES Band 2.
Both these roles report to the Chief Executive Officer and as part of a significantly updated organisational structure. Within the context of the Institute's new strategic direction and a dynamic modernisation agenda, AIHW has established two new Executive Director (SESB2) positions that will be responsible for AIHW's statistical product and service lines. These positions play a critical role in providing governments, stakeholders and the broader community with valuable evidence and insights into key issues affecting the health and welfare of Australians.
The Executive Director – Health Insights leads and oversees the work of a division comprising three of the AIHW's Groups, namely the Primary and Community Care & Information Standards Group, Health Systems & Performance Group and the Population Health Group.
The Executive Director – Community and First Nations Insights leads and oversees the work of a division comprises three of the AIHW's Groups, namely the Housing & Specialised Services Group, Community Services Group, and the First Nations Health & Welfare Group.
To be a strong contender for either of these important roles you will have experience leading data management, analytical, reporting and/or statistical functions and have a strong working understanding of the Australian health and welfare landscape. You will excel in working in complex environments and you will be forward thinking, innovative and adept at building relationships across a broad range of sectors. Your integrity, judgement and strong leadership credentials will be paramount. Your impressive personal style and ability to engender trust and respect will be complemented by intellectual rigor, critical analysis, and first class communication and presentation skills.
In addition, for the Executive Director – Community and First Nations Insights role, applicants will need to demonstrate an understanding of First Nations health and wellbeing aspirations, relevant data governance approaches and effective communication with First Nation peoples.
These roles have been advertised as Canberra based, however, consideration by exception for the preferred candidate to be based in Sydney with an expectation of regular travel to Canberra.
