About this role

With your skills and experience, you can contribute to the millions of ways we're enhancing health and wellness while developing your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia.

As Associate Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction and performance of the branch. This is a dynamic leadership role that combines strategic insight, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement to deliver meaningful impact across the health system.

You will:

  • Lead a team of six, ensuring the effective delivery of branch priorities across the health system.
  • Provide trusted advice and high-level communications on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Act as the key executive contact, ensuring issues and requests are managed with accuracy, timeliness, and influence.
  • Build strong partnerships across the Ministry and with external stakeholders to deliver workforce priorities.
  • Oversee budgets, planning, and reporting, aligning branch activities with organisational goals.
  • Anticipate risks and emerging issues, and develop strategies that support informed decision making and timely organisational responses.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by contributing across both strategic and operational tasks.

Starting salary: Crown Clerk 11/12, from $149,739 - $173,174 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

About you

We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking leader who brings:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience, with a strong commitment to ongoing growth and professional development.
  • Experience in government or the broader public sector, or an understanding of complex governance environments.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operations.
  • Experience building trusted working with diverse stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide, support, and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
