Legal Officer (General Legal) – QUT (Queensland University of Technology)

• Location: Kelvin Grove, hybrid option available
• Remuneration: $109,157 to $118,193 per annum (HEW6). Includes $92,239 to $99,875 salary, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading
• Open to: Current staff members of QUT with ongoing full-time work rights in Australia. Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people who are not QUT staff are also eligible and encouraged to apply.

• A degree in Law and admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland, with at least a restricted practising certificate and at least 6 years post-admission legal experience (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to draft a wide variety of legal documents, with emphasis on drafting of agreements in plain English.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate practical legal advice to a diverse range of clients across the University.
• Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks according to deadlines and manage a high volume of work.
• Demonstrated attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a legal team.

The Office of the General Counsel is led by the General Counsel and is responsible for providing legal services to the University. It provides legal advice to the Vice-Chancellor and President, Senior Executive and Council. The portfolio also includes the assurance and audit office, which provides independent analysis, appraisals, recommendations, advice and information about QUT's internal control systems, effectiveness, and performance quality.
