AT A GLANCE

The Employee Relations Specialist position, reporting to the Manager, People Operations, requires meaningful experience and a passion for all aspects of the employment lifecycle. This role supports the day-to-day people operations of different teams within Broad River. The role works collaboratively with other teams within the People Allies to provide people strategies to support our operators' abilities to meet defined business objectives.

DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER

  • Understands business goals and objectives and aligns people strategy to support those goals.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with internal leadership partners and provides guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes People Operation trends and metrics to recommend strategies that drive business objectives.
  • Oversees and supports employee relations matters across the enterprise, including complex matters requiring swift, thorough, and robust investigations. Makes determinations as to whether any policies were violated and moves forward with the best course of action to ensure policies and Company culture, mission, and vision are upheld.
  • Assesses recruiting and training needs for assigned internal customers.
  • Analyzes labor market and labor costs for team and make recommendations.
  • Performs talent planning sessions with leadership team, helping to build out succession plans and performance development plans for top performers.
  • Supports managers with performance coaching strategies and utilization of Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Works closely with management and Memory Makers to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity & retention.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with presentation experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and react in a timely and professional manner to critical issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data using systems reporting and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field, and/or equivalent work experience in related mid-level HR fields required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR experience, with 5 years of Generalist experience.
  • Experience in retail industry and PHR/SHRM Certification a plus.
  • Bilingual highly preferred (English and Spanish).
  • Working knowledge of and experience applying employment laws including EEO, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, OSHA and other federal, state and local laws governing the workplace.
  • Must have demonstrated experience handling Employee Relations, Legal Compliance, Benefits & Comp Admin and Workers Compensation.
  • Direct experience supporting Director and VP leadership levels within the organization.
  • Consistent application of problem-solving expertise through use of objective evaluation and coaching/resolution skills.
  • Required to travel as needed (up to 30%) to store locations and the Corporate Office in Fort Mill, SC.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is:

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment within an office setting.
  • Physical requirements such as extended periods of sitting and computer use may be required.
  • Physical requirements such as extended periods of standing may be required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and/or electronically.
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Work three days in the Four Oaks Distribution Center (Wednesday & Thursday required, +1 day of your choosing) and two days remotely.
