Senior Fashion Designer

About the position

We are looking for an experienced Senior Lifestyle Fashion Designer who is capable of creating products and prints for our children's coastal lifestyle and accessory brand.

You will work within the design and product team and will work collaboratively with the Brand Manager to research and identify new seasonal trends and prints for our apparel, accessories and swimwear. In addition, you will be charged to lead the design & development process with brand direction and presentation of category collections. This creative, hands on role, is responsible for ensuring all creative requirements, technical standards and critical dates are met whilst managing end to end product development of your ranges. Demonstrating strong leadership skills, a positive culture and leading by example with flexibility is a key component of the role.

Responsibilities

Research

• Research and travel, both locally and internationally for latest trends.
• Research web and social media
• Collaborate with Brand Manager to create seasonal trend direction and inspiration mood boards.

Design

• Research, design and develop new seasonal apparel collections with innovative techniques and quality functional products.
• Collaborating with print houses and graphic design teams to oversee and implement print sourcing, concept development, and direction.
• Responsible for print execution in the swimwear and accessory collections.
• Working closely with the Brand Manager to have a sound understanding of past sales data (best and worst sellers). Identify opportunities, drive newness, deliver continual evolution and cohesion across the product range and overall brand collection. Ensure best seller updates, and lifestyle categories are covered.
• Sound understanding of costings and ability to engineer or re-imagine designs to fit into target margins / FOB costs
• Critical Path Management & Ownership to achieve company timelines across all processes & categories.
• Sourcing, designing and developing all quality fabrications, raw materials, blocks, trims, linings
• Creative design and development of all branding requirements including labels, hardware, embroideries and trims.
• A greener footprint. Identify opportunities & implement within the range to innovate for positive social, ethical and environmental change, and differentiate our business as a leader in sustainability in everything we do.

To be successful, you will have:

• 5+ yrs experience as a senior Designer in the Accessory or Apparel industry. Ideally, you'll have previous experience working across kids products or accessories
• You will have demonstrated experience in all aspects of product design and ability to bring the product to market
• Proficient in Adobe Suite
• PLM experience highly regarded
• You are a strong communicator, mentor and manager, a team player, and have a can-do outlook
• You are highly capable of juggling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• In previous roles you have travelled internationally for trend research, competitor analysis, and material sourcing and are positioned to continue to travel both locally and internationally
• You are well versed at working on the ground with international vendors and factories, on sampling, cost negotiation, and product approvals
• A positive outlook, vibrant personality and a team player
