About the role

selectability is currently seeking a safety officer to work in the corporate team, supporting safety across the organisation's footprint. The safety officer will report to the People & Culture Manager and will work closely with management to support, develop, and maintain consistent workplace health and safety processes across the selectability footprint. Based in Townsville, this is a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the organisation's overall function of workplace health and safety, including psychosocial safety, in accordance with WHS legislation.
  • Analyzing and reporting on WHS data to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Developing initiatives to maintain a safe workplace, using best practice principles and adhering to compliance requirements.
  • Developing programs to maintain a psychologically safe workplace across the footprint.
  • Supporting the development and review of policies and procedures related to WHS legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Reviewing incidents and providing guidance to leaders on corrective actions.
  • Developing training to embed a culture of safety and risk mitigation across the footprint.
  • Writing monthly safety reports.
  • Proactively managing WorkCover claims using early intervention methods across the organisation.
About you

To be successful, you must:

  • Hold a Cert IV WHS (minimum), or be willing to obtain it.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of safety management systems, legislation, regulations, including psychosocial safety.
  • Understanding of NDIS, HSQF, National Mental Health, Child Safety, or Aged Care quality and practice standards is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing WorkCover claims.
  • Possess strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Be committed to best practice.
Role Requirements
  • A Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) or ability to obtain it.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or ability to obtain it.
  • Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'.
  • Occasional travel to various selectability locations is required.
