Classification : Academic Level A

Salary package : $87,135 - $109,369 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Terms : Full-time, Fixed Term (until 30 March 2030)

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a collaborative research project on canola harvest index with the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), based in Wagga, NSW. The successful candidate will work within the Research School of Biology, reporting to Professors Danielle Way and Bob Furbank, in collaboration with Dr Harsh Raman (NSW DPI). This role involves conducting independent plant science research and fieldwork, publishing high-quality findings, and presenting at national and international conferences. The Fellow will also supervise and mentor students, support research staff, and foster productive collaborations with academic, industry, and government partners. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative agricultural research while building strong professional networks.

The Person

The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or be within six months of completion) in plant science or a related field, with proven experience in independent research on plant science, plant phenotyping, or plant ecophysiology, demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations. Fieldwork experience is highly desirable.

You will bring strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team, lead and mentor others, and manage competing priorities to deliver outcomes. A demonstrated capacity for innovative research, contribution to competitive funding bids, and supervising students is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships in a cross-disciplinary environment are also required.
