At Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS), we support individuals to live with dignity, choice, and independence. As we continue to grow, we're expanding our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team and are currently seeking female Residential Care Workers (due to specific client needs) who are experienced, compassionate, and confident in supporting clients with high and complex needs — including physically aggressive behaviours, multiple disabilities, and significant health conditions.
This role requires a high level of resilience, skill, and professionalism in environments with complex physical and mental health challenges, behaviours of concern, and restrictive practices.
About The Role
This part-time role (20–30+ hours/week) involves providing consistent, trauma-informed, and strengths-based support to clients with significant behavioural, physical, and health-related needs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide high-level personal care: showering, continence care, dressing, mobility
- Support clients displaying physical aggression and behaviours of concern
- Administer medication and manage complex healthcare routines
- Support clients with dual diagnoses (physical disability + mental health)
- Implement restrictive practice strategies in line with behaviour support plans
- Assist with domestic duties: cleaning, meal prep, laundry
- Maintain accurate daily documentation and incident reporting
- Experience supporting clients with severe behavioural and health complexities
- Skilled in de-escalation and safe response to physical aggression
- Knowledge of restrictive practices and positive behaviour support
- Calm, confident, and adaptable in unpredictable situations
- Flexible, reliable, and committed to continuous learning
- Female applicants only (due to client care requirements)
- Cert III/IV in Disability, Individual Support or related (highly regarded)
- Proven experience with high-complexity support environments
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid & CPR, Australian Driver's Licence & reliable vehicle
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations as per public health orders
- Availability for a mix of morning, afternoon, and sleepover shifts
- Consistent hours with flexibility
- Paid training & strong team support
- Work in well-managed SIL homes with dedicated leadership
