About the roleMater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for a Hospital / Service Quality and Safety Manager to join the team in a permanent full-time role.
The Quality and Safety Manager is part of the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the General Manager.
You will be responsible for activities related to Quality and Clinical Safety Management and accreditation across the hospital / service, which are essential for licensing, service level agreements, and contracts. The position will be embedded within the services it works with, responsible for all aspects of clinical quality and safety for that service.
This role focuses on quality systems, consumer experience, and managing clinical risk / safety. It involves working collaboratively with staff and managers / clinicians to ensure quality governance systems are in place, clinical risk frameworks are functioning effectively, and there is a cycle of continuous improvement in delivering high-quality healthcare.
- Lead, develop, implement, and maintain an organisational-wide quality system.
- Manage the organisation's quality management system, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
- Work with Management to monitor and prepare for accreditation for all services.
- Support a culture of understanding and compliance with quality, clinical risk, and patient safety guidelines to meet accreditation standards and legislative obligations.
- Lead and manage annual quality audits, review and maintain audit tools.
- Analyse audit results, create improvement plans, and act on findings and recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Manage the document control system, ensuring compliance and proper management of records.
- Implement an internal audit schedule to minimize risks and ensure compliance with standards.
- Manage clinical indicator collection and maintain incident and risk registries.
- Coordinate surveys for doctor, staff, and patient experience as required.
- Evaluate and prepare reports on staff/clinician satisfaction, clinical indicators, incidents, risks, patient feedback, audits, and quality improvements.
To succeed, you will demonstrate:
- Relevant qualification and substantial experience (up to 5 years) in managing organisational, clinical governance/quality systems.
- Experience in leading, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems and improvement measures.
- Experience evaluating workplace practices against accreditation standards and policies.
- Risk and change management experience.
- Knowledge of maintaining accreditation status and compliance standards.
- Leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
- Advanced skills in software and data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building professional relationships.
- High-level written communication skills.
- Conceptual and analytical ability, initiative, and independent judgment.
- Planning and policy development skills.
- Understanding of healthcare policies affecting quality and risk.
- Knowledge of contemporary quality and clinical risk management.
- Experience in the healthcare sector.
- Postgraduate qualifications in a related field.
