What you'll deliver with us

The EMR Platform Manager will be accountable for the Australia Post purpose-built Event Management Reimagined (EMR) platform operation and strategic vision, ensuring the platform is optimised and operational. This role oversees the strategic planning, implementation, and management of EMR. The manager ensures the platform's stability, scalability, and security while driving innovation and efficiency. This involves articulating the value of EM services and demonstrating clearly the different sources of requirements (operations, security, compliance, features) and articulating criteria as inputs into architectural decisions. The EMR is an internally built Java-based application running on GCP.

Reporting directly into the Head of Technology Integration this role is responsible for the technology change and the run of EMR, supporting the organization, including business continuity, compliance, and security obligations. Planning and managing the duality of modern and heritage services in parallel to maintain business continuity over the period of a change agenda will be evidenced. Work as a customer advocate to enable innovation and accelerate delivery on a secure platform while reducing costs. This is a people management role leading multi-functional teams supporting a core purpose-built technology platform.

Accountable for managing and ensuring the continuous service improvement and operational efficiency of supply chain and/or third parties in delivering services specific to their platform / enabling service. This would include ensuring that the service is in line with the overall Technology strategy and that 3rd parties have been assessed and meet all minimum baseline security, compliance, legal and procurement requirements. The platform manager is responsible for capacity planning and software/hardware lifecycle management.

You'll also

• Ensure the EMR platform has maximised uptime, throughput and response time utilising agreed baselined SLAs.
• Ensure EMR Platform vision is viable from a business perspective
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise and thought leadership to the broader Technology organisation regarding Event Management & the EMR platform.
• Accountable for service management including service level agreements, service continuity, Change, incident and problem management and the provision of service and performance metrics and reporting for the platform.
• Develop and manage the EMR Platform roadmap, including prioritization of features and capabilities securing long term health & stability.
• Accountable for the technology delivery lifecycle services (plan, build, test, run), including projects, minor works and BAU changes that may involve more than one business platform.
• Identity, articulate business value, standardise and prioritize high level capabilities and services across EMR offerings
• Aligns platform capabilities to enterprise strategy and provide requirements leveraged as criteria for architectural decisions

About You

We are looking for a strong leader who can articulate new ways of working and influence teams in adopting it. Internally you will be working with Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Heads of Technology and GMs and Technology Managers. Externally you'll be engaging with vendors, partners, and GCP (platform provider) which is why the ability to be a Trusted Technology Advisor to lines of business undertaking Transformation is critical.

You'll also need

• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams working in cloud technology. This is a leadership role.
• Background as a hands-on software, platform or product engineer who has developed into a lead/ senior manager role across cloud platforms.
• Strong software development capability with experience working on a Java-based complex system.
• High level of senior management engagement experience and ability to negotiate at a senior level on a wide range of issues and subjects.
• Ability to build and manage relationships at strategic partner and vendor level.
• Understanding of event/data management products, especially those supporting event-driven architectures is advantageous but NOT mandatory.
• Proven ability to drive engineering capability, quality uplift and deliver outcomes.
