Role Description/Criteria

Applications are now open for the position of Library Technician.

We are seeking suitably qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic candidates to join our team. This position is Cross Campus - St. Pauls in Altona North and Notre Dame Campus in Point Cook.

This is a full-time (Category will be confirmed with the candidate at the time of interview) position based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be entitled to several weeks of leave throughout the year (depending upon the Category) and reports directly to the Library Leader.

The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.15pm. The position description is available on our website. All applications must include the following:

Emmanuel College is part of the faith community of Laverton and is governed under Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS). MACS is the employer of employees at Emmanuel College.

About our school: Emmanuel College is expanding and has two campuses: St. Paul's in Altona North (single-sex boys) and a co-educational campus in Point Cook. Salary: Based on experience, in accordance with the Teacher scale of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (CEMEA). These are Fixed Term Full-Time positions.

Skills/Experience required:

  • Perform library-specific tasks supporting the Librarian and/or Library Leader.
  • Assist with daily library operations and circulation desk duties, including issuing and receiving resources.
  • Process all print and non-print materials.
  • Maintain, process, and catalogue periodicals, and manage displays.
  • Proficiency in ICTs to produce documentation, flyers, and multimedia resources.
  • Maintain collection, shelving, repair, and withdraw damaged/lost materials.
  • Maintain audio-visual equipment circulated through AccessIt.
  • Supervise students in the library.
  • Assist with promoting reading and literature through readers advising and displays.
  • Help students and staff with research enquiries and promote online databases and research guides.
  • Assist with library lessons and competitions.

Special Requirements:

  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to providing a safe environment for children.
  • Hold a valid Working with Children check and National Police Check.
