Commercial Lawyer, 6+ month contract

We are currently working with a government owned entity in their search for a legal counsel to join their team for a short-term contract of up to 6 months.
This role offers a mix of commercial contracting, public sector compliance, and stakeholder engagement. You'll be advising on supplier agreements, facility documentation under relevant legislation, and supporting business units with day-to-day legal queries.
Key responsibilities- Drafting and negotiating supplier contracts (services, IT, procurement)
- Advising on facility agreements with government authorities under relevant Acts
- Managing PPSR registrations and general legal support across business units
- Reviewing and maintaining legal and compliance frameworks
- Monitoring regulatory developments and advising on implications
- Preparing Board-level legal reports
- Building strong relationships across government, regulators, suppliers and internal teams
- Strong commercial contracting experience, ideally within government or financial services
- Familiarity with Victorian public sector legislation and compliance obligations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work across teams and manage competing priorities
