Redlynch State College is seeking a caring and dedicated Defence School Mentor to join our supportive school community. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to support Defence students and their families as they transition into, during, and out of the College.

This position is being offered in a Permanent Part-Time capacity (0.41FTE), 30 hours per fortnight.

Step Into Your Next Chapter

As the Defence School Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing support to Defence students and their families, helping them successfully navigate the unique challenges associated with the Defence lifestyle. Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and community partners, you will ensure Defence students feel welcomed, connected, and supported in their educational and social journey at Redlynch State College.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting Defence students to integrate into the school community and develop a strong sense of belonging.
  • Raising awareness within the school of the unique needs of Defence families.
  • Assisting families to navigate transitions when enrolling, experiencing parental absence, or farewelling the College.
  • Monitoring the wellbeing of Defence students and advocating for their needs when required.
  • Facilitating referrals to support services where appropriate.
  • Developing programs, activities, and resources that build resilience, connection, and engagement.
  • Attending Defence School Mentor network meetings and contributing to reporting requirements.
