This position is being advertised to establish a pool of EALD teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

Canning College has been preparing students to achieve entry into Australia's leading universities since 1982. It is a senior campus specialising in international education with a reputation for providing local and overseas students with the personal and academic development and pathways required to succeed in tertiary studies. The college offers pathways including Intensive English Program, Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 WACE programs, and programs such as Certificate IV in University Access, Diploma of Commerce, and WAUFP. The Role

Suitable candidates will ideally be experienced teachers with sound curriculum knowledge of the Year 11 and Year 12 WACE English as an Additional Language/Dialect courses. They will demonstrate the passion, professional knowledge and experience to develop and deliver high quality programs and high impact teaching strategies that engage young adult learners and motivate students toward university entry. In addition to WACE teaching, candidates should be able to create and deliver a Year 10 EALD program that expands learning experiences. Candidates should have highly effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds, and to inspire and support students to achieve their learning potential in an inclusive classroom environment. Candidates should be committed to Canning College's goal for international and local students to achieve success on their path to leading universities, and demonstrate professionalism and collaboration with colleagues.

Eligibility
  • Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
