Overview

Data Architect, Executive Level 1, National Measurement Institute (NMI) is a division of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR). This is a 10-month non-ongoing position to support the Legal Metrology Branch on the Trade Measurement Activity and Reporting System Phase 4 Enhancement Project (the project). The project will deliver critical enhancements to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM and the NMI Services Portal (NMISP) as part of NMI's broader digital strategy.

This role is specifically for the project; extension or ongoing conversion may be considered upon completion.

Salary

Salary Range: $122,235 - $129,811

What you will do
  • In consultation with stakeholders, map existing data holdings, inputs and dependencies impacted by the project.
  • Investigate and recommend optimisation of the use of data holdings for the different streams of the project.
  • Design and implement data architecture and integration frameworks that enable best practice data lifecycle management and ensure compliance with relevant standards, policies and regulations.
  • Design and implement documentation to support renewed data processes.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to optimise existing reporting processes, including setting standards for data accuracy and quality.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of revised and renewed data processes, adapting the approach when new information is presented.
  • Apply critical thinking to the project, and guide end users to adopt a similar mindset.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas in the division, the department and across government to deliver outcomes and share knowledge.

Our ideal candidate
  • Demonstrated experience as a Data Architect in Australian Public Service settings, preferably within agencies with regulatory compliance responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing and optimising data holdings to ensure effective execution of business operational and strategic responsibilities and goals.
  • A working understanding of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of data security controls required by DISR.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, including well developed negotiation and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Build and sustain relationships; liaise with a range of stakeholders within and outside of the division.
  • Adhere to the Australian Public Service Values, NMI values and Code of Conduct and consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way.
Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Notes
  • Experience in digital transformation projects for complex organisations (CRM focus) is desirable.
  • A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
