Position Summary

This role involves providing sales and service support for all Simrad Fisheries products, which are primarily targeted at the commercial fisheries, sportfishing, and academic markets. The East Coast commercial market spans from Maine to Virginia, with dealers/resellers responsible for selling and servicing Simrad products. This position will also support the sportfishing market as required. The product range includes sonar, echo sounders, and wireless & wired trawl systems.

Role And Responsibilities

Sales Activities:
  • Maintain and expand the dealer network in the region.
  • Provide consistent sales training on both new and established products.
  • Establish contacts within the commercial fishing and academic markets.

Support Activities
  • Familiarize dealers/resellers/customers with all aspects of the product's capabilities.
  • Act as the first responder to product issues on the vessels.

Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Develop and maintain knowledge as follows:
    • Existing customer base
    • Key potential customers and stakeholders
    • Clear understanding of competitive advantages
    • Knowledge of competing companies and products
  • The incumbent is also required to complete any other tasks associated with Kongsberg Discovery activities as deemed appropriate.
Skills
  • Ability to find solutions independently.
  • Understanding of the commercial & academic fisheries sales markets.
  • Personable approach to a wide variety of customer personalities and attitudes.
  • Comfort level on commercial fishing vessels as well as high-end sport fishing vessels.
  • Ability to communicate and train groups and individuals in various environments.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems.
  • Basic understanding of hydro acoustic principles and applications.
  • Knowledge of commercial and sport fishing terminology and techniques is beneficial.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High level of comfort with PCs, including Windows 11 OS, serial and ethernet interfacing, and moderate troubleshooting.

Travel
  • Willingness to travel throughout the territory for periods generally not exceeding 10 days.
  • Ability to go to sea for periods up to 5 days. This is an essential job function, but reasonable accommodation will be considered if necessary.
  • International travel for training and conferences, must have or be able to obtain a current valid passport.

Work Location: Preferred location is remote in the East Coast area.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000 base annual salary, DOE
