Senior Legal Specialist | Community Banking | Retail Banking

Permanent, Full-time position with flexible/hybrid work options. Open to all locations Australia-wide.

Overview

Join Bendigo Bank as a Senior Legal Specialist in Community Banking and Retail Banking. You will provide strategic legal guidance on governance, compliance, risk, and regulatory matters within the Community Bank model and Franchise Agreements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance to ensure compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct and other statutory/regulatory obligations related to the Community Bank model.
  • Advise Bendigo Bank and its franchisees on obligations under franchise agreements and support governance, compliance, risk, and regulatory matters across ACCC, ASIC, APRA, AFCA, and related areas, including assets sales and acquisitions.
What you'll bring
  • Strong understanding of the Franchising Code of Conduct (or ability to quickly learn), Corporations Law, and other statutory/regulator requirements in the Community Bank model.
  • Understanding of legislative impacts from a government perspective.
  • Demonstrated legal experience, ideally within Banking, Finance, Franchising, regulatory, or compliance sectors.
  • Knowledge of Banking, Finance and franchising governance frameworks and related regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to demonstrate broad knowledge of company structures and local company frameworks.
  • Sound knowledge of general banking practices (advantageous).
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and influencing skills.
  • Qualified Lawyer with 7-10+ years PQE.
