Family Therapist – Contract Role (Court-Related Work)Location: Hawthorn, Melbourne – The Couch Therapy Group
Type: Contractor (ABN required)
The Couch Therapy Group is seeking a skilled Family Therapist (Registered Psychologist) to join our team on a contract basis.
About the RoleThis position involves working in the highly specialised area of family court-related therapy, supporting families in high conflict situations. The successful applicant will work with separated parents and children in therapeutic processes such as:
Assisting parents to improve co-parenting communication
Supporting children in repair and reintegration work with one parent
Rebuilding and strengthening parent–child relationships
This role requires resilience, clinical expertise, and the ability to manage emotionally charged and complex dynamics.
Key RequirementsFully registered psychologist with AHPRA registration
Current professional indemnity insurance
Contract/ABN holder (this is not an employee role)
Demonstrated experience or knowledge of the family court system
Clinical experience working with high conflict couples and families
Ability to prepare detailed therapy reports for court and provide evidence when required (including cross-examination)
Support & FlexibilityThe role will gradually build as your caseload grows, with flexibility around the days and hours you are available to work.
You will have access to supervision and guidance from a senior psychologist with extensive experience in family court-related therapy.
Who We're Looking ForThis is not a role for a new graduate. We are seeking someone with a proven track record of managing high conflict dynamics in therapeutic settings. The ideal candidate will bring professionalism, confidence, and a capacity to manage the intersection of therapy and legal processes with care.
