The Aquatic Programs Team Leader is a key role within Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre and its leadership team. The Team Leader will oversee the recruitment, training, development, and performance of Swimming Lesson Teachers. Responsibilities also include coordinating and delivering school swimming lessons, school carnivals, aquatic bookings, swim lessons, birthday parties, and implementing new aquatic programs such as squads, water running, stroke correction, and water aerobics. The role involves liaising with local sporting and community groups to maximize aquatic area usage and overseeing summer events and the School Holiday Swim Lesson Program.

About the Centre

Following a $27.3 million redevelopment, the Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre opened in September 2018. It features a state-of-the-art 24-hour gym, Pilates Reformer studio, and a multipurpose and group fitness room. The outdoor aquatic area includes a heated 50-metre pool, 20m learn-to-swim pool, waterslides, and a children's waterplay area with features and slides.

The Centre operates year-round, with aquatic areas open from 1 October to 30 April, and all pools are heated.

About the Role

The Aquatic Programs Team Leader will manage and lead teams in the aquatic programs area, ensuring services meet standards. They will inspire and motivate teams, support policy implementation, and oversee health and safety, ensuring visitor safety and enjoyment. Responsibilities include managing programs within budgets, objectives, and KPIs, with support from the Centre Manager. This is a part-time role, paying $32.55 per hour plus super and benefits, until 19 April 2026.

About You

You should have strong leadership skills to manage a large team in a busy aquatic environment, with a minimum of 12 months experience. The role requires availability for various shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends. The position includes duties as a swimming teacher and in charge of swimming lessons.

Essential Qualifications
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • Accredited Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (AUSTSWIM or equivalent)
Other Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar facility is desirable
