We are primarily seeking a "Senior Tester " to work with our Energy client.

Location: Melbourne only

Engagement type: Contract only

Responsibilities:

• Testing strategy and execution for Metering and NEM (National Electricity Market) projects, ensuring compliance with market rules, regulatory standards, and system interoperability requirements.
• Oversees end-to-end testing for systems handling interval and accumulation metering data, service order workflows, and market transactions (e.g., MSATS, B2B).
• API, ETL and Database testing activities across key components such as Meter Data Management (MDM), MDFF, and Retail Market Systems.
• Provides expert guidance on system and integration testing approaches across service order lifecycles and customer transfer scenarios.
• Defines test entry/exit criteria and aligns them with release schedules and Retail Market Test (RMT) cycles.
• Coordinates with Release Managers and Environment teams to prepare test environments with real-world metering scenarios and accurate NMI configuration data.
• Drives performance testing for high-volume metering platforms to validate throughput, latency, and system behavior under load simulation.
• Organizes and leads defect triage sessions, focusing on high-impact issues related to market compliance, customer switching, or incorrect metering reads.
• Engages in cross-functional planning with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and SMEs to ensure market obligations are met and risks mitigated.
• Active contributor to Test Governance and Quality Assurance forums for energy sector programs, promoting automation adoption and regulatory test readiness.
• Provides detailed test documentation including test plans, traceability matrices, defect logs, and test summary reports
• Tracks and communicates project test progress through daily and weekly reporting, ensuring all stakeholder expectations are met.

Experience and Knowledge

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in software testing.
• Experience in end-to-end testing, database/ETL testing, integration testing, and API/Microservice testing.
• Strong experience in manual testing and test execution.
• Good experience with database testing (Oracle or SQL) and API testing (Postman).
• Proficient in test processes, concepts, and methodologies.
• Knowledge of web application testing.
• Experience in automation testing is desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Experience in Retail or NEM domains is highly desirable.
• Testing certification (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
