Water Quality Engineer (2-year fixed-term)

We are seeking a passionate Water Quality Engineer for a 2-year fixed-term contract to deliver essential water, wastewater, waste, and recycling services.

The role

You will provide operations and technical support in water to Operations teams across Australia and New Zealand. Your responsibilities include leading projects related to invoice production, data analysis, water quality analysis and reporting, plant commissioning, systems support, and project coordination.

This position also involves providing leadership to the Water Quality team, specifically to the Operations Support Engineer or Graduate.

The role can be based in Townsville, QLD, or Macarthur, NSW.

Key responsibilities

  1. Provide technical support for drinking water and wastewater operations.
  2. Lead investigations into water treatment, wastewater treatment, membrane processes, and water quality optimization.
  3. Manage projects related to water quality in drinking water, wastewater, and recycled water.
  4. Assist with plant commissioning and operations.
  5. Drive process, chemical, and energy optimization initiatives.
  6. Develop and maintain water quality programs.
  7. Manage water quality data and conduct analyses.
  8. Liaise with external laboratories and stakeholders regarding water quality inquiries.
  9. Advise on risk management plans and water-related incidents.
  10. Comply with TRILITY's quality assurance and health and safety standards.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Water Quality Manager.

What we are looking for

  • Experience with drinking water technologies and processes (desirable).
  • Tertiary qualifications in science or engineering.
  • Operational or design experience in drinking water and membrane processes (desirable).
  • Knowledge of ADWG, AGWR, and EPA guidelines.
  • Experience in water risk management systems.
  • Leadership skills in solving engineering or water quality problems.
  • Strong client, project management, and technical delivery skills.
  • Experience with design tools (P&IDs, PFDs) and modeling software (BIOWIN, MEDLI, AUTOCAD, VISIO).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to produce high-quality reports and data analyses.
  • Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
  • Customer-focused with relationship-building abilities.
  • Willingness to work away from home regularly.
