We are seeking a Principal Science Technician within the Department of Primary Industries (Queensland). The Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) team supports Biosecurity Queensland's efforts to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintain access to markets. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management, and lead the DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes aligned with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.

As our Principal Science Technician, you will provide leadership to the quality control team, and ensure high-quality vaccine is produced to preserve and protect Queensland's biosecurity.

You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:

  • Accurately performing routine tasks in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
  • Actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team

It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
