Purpose of the role

As a Business Analyst / Product Specialist within our Technology Team, you will translate business needs into clear technical requirements, drive process improvement initiatives and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure our software and systems meet the highest standards of quality, security and user experience. You will play a pivotal role in facilitating communication between product owners, developers and operations, helping Padua deliver on its vision to be the global leader in data-driven, tech-enabled financial advice generation.

Core responsibilities

• Engage with internal stakeholders (Product, Research, Key Accounts & other services) to elicit, analyse and document business requirements, user stories and process flows
• Develop functional and non-functional requirement specifications, use-case scenarios and acceptance criteria to guide the Software Engineering team
• Work closely with Software Engineering leads to scope project deliverables, estimate effort and prioritise backlog items
• Drive process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, optimise performance and enhance data integrity
• Collaborate with System Administration and Cyber Security teams to ensure proposed solutions adhere to our governance framework, data protection standards (including ISO 27001) and regulatory obligations
• Conduct gap analyses, risk assessments and impact assessments for system changes, integrations and new feature roll-outs
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating test cycles and validating defects with the QA and Development teams
• Prepare detailed documentation, including business requirement documents (BRDs), process maps, technical specifications and user guides
• Assist in the management of policy and procedure updates to reflect system enhancements, security controls and operational best-practice
• Monitor project progress, produce regular status reports for senior leadership and escalate issues as required to maintain delivery timelines

Skills, knowledge and abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Business Analyst or similar in a technology-driven environment (preferably within financial services, fintech or managed services)
• Proven track record in requirement elicitation, process mapping and documentation for end-to-end software development lifecycles
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and experience working with JIRA, Confluence (or similar tools)
• Experience with data modelling, SQL queries and familiarity with data warehouse concepts is preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of cyber security principles and governance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST CSF, APRA CPS 234) is preferred
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable technical requirements
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—able to present to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong stakeholder‐management and relationship‐building skills, with a focus on collaboration, transparency and accountability
• Proactive mindset—comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
• Reports to the Head of Product (based in Sydney)
• Works closely with Software Engineering Manager, DevOps, Cyber Security Lead, Product Owner(s), QA and the broader Services teams (Concierge, Research, Key Accounts)
