About the RoleInspire is the Fiona Stanley Hospital Mental Health Service. This service provides Lived Experience Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Peer Workers as part of a multidisciplinary team to support consumers, carers, and families while in the hospital.
Peer Recovery Workers provide a unique perspective and offer hope to individuals on their recovery journey by showing that recovery is possible. Through shared understanding, Peer Recovery Workers help people feel supported, connect, grow resilience and enhance wellbeing.
This is a maximum term full time position, working 38 hours per week from Monday to Friday, with a maximum date of 31 December 2025.
What we're looking forAs well as the above documentation, we will be looking for:
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (alternatively, at least 75% completion).
- Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, mission, core values and the three guiding principles of the organisation.
- Lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or a Cultural peer perspective.
- Willingness to identify as a person with lived experience working in a Peer Support role.
- An understanding of Peer Work in a community setting.
- Openness to continuous quality improvement and learning in this role.
- A great attitude and commitment to your team, colleagues, clients, and the organisation.
- Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship
- Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
- Ability to model positive behaviours, emotional maturity, coping skills and resilience.
- Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
- Sound understanding of Microsoft Office suite and client reporting system.
- Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture.
- National Police Clearance Certificate.
- International Police Clearance Certificate, if applicable.
- Hospital required vaccinations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella (Chickenpox), Hepatitis B and Pertussis/Diphtheria/Tetanus). The successful candidate will receive the hospital screening form containing all the details regarding vaccinations.
