About the position

The unit cook will be responsible for the kitchen and its services to ensure food security and the overall hygiene onsite. The role of the staff is to maintain an environment in which young people can learn and rehearse new skills and behaviours. Staff also provides program content according to individual professional and personal skills. Staff will also maintain a focus on the young person as a member of a family and the broader community.

The role of the unit cook will be to manage the provision of meals to the program, including meal planning, purchasing, food hygiene and teaching food preparation to the residents. The unit cook is a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The hours of work are by negotiation. Some after hours and weekend work may be necessary.
