Community Care TASMANIA is a not-for-profit provider of in-home aged care and disability services focused on supporting Tasmanians to live in the comfort of their own homes surrounded by family, friends and neighbours. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality care, tailored to the unique needs of each client. As we continue to grow, we are looking for skilled Board Members to join our team and be key member of a Tasmanian business delivering exceptional care to our clients.

About the Role:

We are seeking three new Board Members to join our Board for a term of three years (with eligibility to be re-appointed). Specific roles are:

• Treasurer (1 position) – responsible for leading financial oversight and providing expert financial stewardship.
• Chair of the Risk & Governance Committee (1 position) – responsible for leading the Risk & Governance Committee and ensuring strong compliance, risk management, and governance frameworks.
• Board Member (1 position) – contributing to the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation.

As a member of our Board, you will contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and sustainability of Community Care TASMANIA during a critical time of growth and reform in the aged care sector.

The position requires attendance at, and contribution to Community Care TASMANIA Board Meetings and appointment to a Board Sub-Committee/s as determined by the Board Chair.

The board hold eight meetings annually (four face to face, if location allows and four virtual), and it is an expectation that the successful applicants would attend a minimum of 75% of these and a one-day strategy session annually.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend and actively participate in board and committee meetings
• Contribute to strategic planning and organisational oversight
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations
• Champion quality care and client centred services
• Support good governance and ethical leadership

Successful applicants will be expected to have:

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
• An Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) qualification (or equivalent) and/or experience working within a Governing Body (Desirable)
• Knowledge of the Australian Aged Care system, including reforms and funding models (e.g., Commonwealth Home Support Program, Home Care Packages) is advantageous.
• Commitment to improving the lives of older Australians and those living with a disability, and a values-based, human centric approach.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Satisfactory National Police Check
• Working with Vulnerable People Card (NDIS Screening)
• NDIS Workers Orientation Certificate.
• Director Identification Number

Plus expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Governance
• Strategic Planning
• Finance, accounting and investment
• Aged Care and/or Disability Services
• Business acumen and entrepreneurship
• Legal
• Quality, risk and compliance
• Human Resource Management
