Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS Data Centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to our services. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with teams across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing immense capacity at low cost. We foster an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and ownership to completion. The Infrastructure Operations (Data Center) team is the backbone of AWS, sustaining the physical infrastructure and maintaining safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost.

We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer with experience in critical facilities management, strong technical (electrical/mechanical) understanding, and a drive to elevate data center engineering operations. The role reports to the DCEO Manager and focuses on sustaining availability, cost management, risk assessment and mitigation, and managing maintenance and metrics for critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake and support routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems (e.g., switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, CRACs, building monitoring and fire systems).
  • Install new rack capacity and provisioning of power and cooling.
  • On-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring work complies with established practices, procedures, and local regulations.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports/documentation of critical facility operations and maintenance; manage the facility's assets.
  • Generate change management and incident tickets for facility-related events and assist in resolving infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with data center IT managers and business leaders to coordinate day-to-day operations, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Drive and implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability; assist in design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new data center facilities.
Additional Role Requirements
  • This role may involve bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, and climbing ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
  • This role has a rostered on-call requirement to provide 24x7 support, which may change based on business needs.
  • Candidate should possess a valid driver's license and own vehicle due to site locations.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in facilities management within a data center or other critical space; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with physical security protocols and adherence to safety standards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and web-based tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or technical/trade qualifications with relevant data center experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center (e.g., DRUPS, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS, ATS/STS, PDUs, Chillers, AHUs, CRACs).
  • Experience in mission-critical facility management for large enterprises or large Colocation providers.
  • Experience managing vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance, and upgrades in large-scale critical environments.
