About the Role

As Transport Section Lead, you will take charge of everything transport-related.

Your responsibilities include leading and growing a team delivering transport projects in South Australia. Successfully find, tender, and win projects. Efficiently schedule resources, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and maintain accurate project records. Provide monthly reports to senior management. Offer expertise in engineering drawings, designs, and reports, ensuring compliance with Austroads guidelines, Australian Standards, and industry best practices. Drive ongoing improvements within the Civil team, provide technical leadership on complex engineering matters, and conduct insightful project reviews.

Skills & Experience

As the successful candidate, you will have a variety of responsibilities drawing upon your experience as an transport engineer in design, project, and team management. This position offers growth in skills and expertise, requiring effective leadership and strong technical proficiency.

The scope includes transport projects such as bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, stormwater drainage, access tracks, major roads, intersections, and erosion and sediment control design. Candidates with management experience from client-side or contractor-side roles are encouraged to apply.

Skills include:

  • Manage multi-disciplinary engineering projects, including technical, commercial, and administrative aspects.
  • Understand organisational and team needs and processes.
  • Undertake business development to grow the pipeline of work and team.
  • Input, manage, and review civil engineering drawings, designs, and technical reports.
  • Ensure engineering design practices and standards comply with Austroads guidelines, Australian Standards, and codes, meeting industry best practices.
  • Prepare concept, feasibility, and detailed design documentation and obtain relevant reviews and approvals.
  • Meet regularly with the project team to provide advice and mentoring on operational, project, and management responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered with Engineers Australia, or ability to become Chartered
  • Established relationships with local government, state government, and contractors in South Australia
  • High-level communication, interpersonal, and team management skills
  • Advanced time management, planning, and organisational skills
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities
