The Role

As our Assistant Farm Manager, you'll work closely with the Farm Manager to ensure the smooth operation of our almond orchards. Your responsibilities will include:

Daily Operations Management:

• Assist in planning, scheduling and overseeing all daily orchard operations
• Coordinate workflow to maximise efficiency and productivity
• Monitor and report on operational performance

Team Leadership:

• Supervise and mentor team members across all orchard activities
• Provide hands-on training in irrigation management, integrated pest management, pruning techniques, and harvesting procedures
• Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment

Technical Operations:

• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment following strict safety protocols
• Conduct regular monitoring of crop health and development
• Oversee irrigation systems to ensure optimal water management
• Maintain orchard infrastructure to company standards

Quality & Compliance:

• Ensure all work meets WHS (Workplace Safety) standards and company policies
• Maintain detailed records and documentation as required
• Support quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives
  

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualities:

• Motivated and honest individualwith strong work ethic
• Excellent communication skillsfor effective team leadership
• Versatile team playerwho can also work independently with minimal supervision
• Current driver's licence(essential)

Technical Skills:

• Proven ability to operate and maintain agricultural machinery
• Sound knowledge of irrigation systems and orchard management practices
• ChemCert accreditation preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Experience:

• Almond industry experience is highly regarded but not essential
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience is advantageous
• Background in horticulture, agriculture, or related field preferred
