This is a permanent part-time (0.7FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026

The School

Millen Primary School opened in 1956 and will be celebrating its 70 anniversary in 2026. The school is in East Victoria Park and caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Whole school approaches to teaching English, maths, STEM and student wellbeing are embedded and aligned to the Department of Education's Teaching for Impact. The Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is used to guide our progress as a culturally responsive school.

The Role

The successful applicant should show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant primary school music curriculum. As the primary music teacher at Millen PS, you should establish an inclusive and culturally safe classroom environment. You should provide engaging arts experiences that support students to develop capability in critical and creative thinking.

Millen's music teacher will be an active member of a Professional Learning Community that works collaboratively to improve student learning by using data to inform practices focused on continuous improvement.

You will work closely with the school community to promote music through a range of successful initiatives, including choir and the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) program.

The successful applicant will ideally:

• Inspire and engage students through innovative and differentiated music instruction aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum.
• Develop strong relationships with students, staff, and the wider school community.
• Coordinate and lead music activities, including but not limited to choir and IMSS, adding value to existing programs and fostering student talent.
• Demonstrate initiative in enhancing student engagement and behaviour, contributing positively to whole-school culture.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to the school's ongoing development of music and the arts.
