Social Planning is a high priority for Council with steady population growth, Greenfield site development and urban renewal programs across our LGA.

The Role

Campbelltown City Council is seeking a forward-thinking, motivated and experienced Strategic Social Planner to plan and deliver social planning and capacity building initiatives that align with Council's objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake social research and analysis to identify social trends and community needs
  • Provide expert social planning advice and recommendations to support city planning and development
  • Advise on social infrastructure and community development in Greenfield estates and redevelopment of existing urban areas
  • Develop, collect and report on social outcomes and community wellbeing measures
  • Contribute to organisation-wide strategy and planning decisions to deliver sustainable community outcomes
Qualifications & Skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social planning, social and behavioural sciences, public policy, or town planning
  • Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in social planning principles and practices
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to influence others
  • Experience in social research and planning, policy development, data analysis, project management, and implementing social infrastructure initiatives
  • Experience with social infrastructure planning, funding models and developer contributions
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills with evidence-based reasoning
  • Community-focused and committed to making local communities great places for all
  • Ability to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to values of respect, integrity, teamwork, trust and optimism
