Role Summary

We're looking for a highly capable Technical Business Analyst to join our growing Data & AI team. In this role, you'll act as a bridge between business and technology, bringing together your understanding of data management, stakeholder engagement, and analytical thinking to deliver strategic, high-impact outcomes. You'll help our clients unlock value from their data assets and contribute to the design and delivery of enterprise data solutions across a range of industries.

Contract Summary

Clearance: Baseline or eligibility for government clearance is preferred

Work model: Hybrid

Location: Canberra

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyse and document technical and business requirements across data programs and enterprise analytics initiatives
  • Analyse and profile large data sets using SQL and present insights clearly to stakeholders
  • Map current and future state business processes, and contribute to the development of operating models and governance frameworks
  • Provide detailed data analysis, modelling, and documentation aligned to modern data warehousing principles (3NF, Dimensional, Data Vault)
  • Work closely with business and IT stakeholders to ensure seamless solution delivery and adoption
  • Support project delivery by translating requirements into functional specifications and validating technical outputs
  • Provide leadership within small teams, including scope definition, planning, and mentoring of junior analysts
  • Contribute to strategic thinking around data management, architecture, and organisational change
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects using Agile methodologies

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 6+ years of experience in Technical Business Analyst roles, ideally within advisory or data management consulting
  • Strong understanding of data management frameworks, data governance, and related tools/technologies
  • Advanced SQL skills for analysing large, complex datasets
  • Strong skills in data analysis, profiling, and data presentation within a data warehouse or enterprise analytics environment
  • Solid grasp of data modelling techniques including 3NF, Dimensional and Data Vault
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex solutions into BAU environments
  • Experience across data analysis, business analysis, and project delivery
  • Proven ability to develop and recommend best practice processes and operating models
  • Client-facing experience, with a track record of building strong relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills with the ability to work on high-impact projects

Desired:

  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Synapse, Teradata, or Exadata
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Qlik Sense, or other BI/analytics tools
  • Understanding of user adoption strategies for data products
  • Experience in Agile project environments
  • Skills in Business Case Analysis, AI & Data Strategy, or operating model design
