Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home two days per week

About the Role:
The Prosecutions and Education Lead is responsible for supporting the legal and compliance functions of various key stakeholders within Council. The role involves high quality legal support, through training and coaching to enforcement-based officers, ensuring high standards of work output and legal and regulatory standards are consistently met.
Responsibilities:
- Prosecutions: Manage and deliver Council's prosecutions functions (in animal management, parking, local laws, environmental health and investigations) to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with statutory obligations.
- Education & Training: Provide training and coaching to enforcement-based officers, ensuring high standards of investigations.
- Customer service and leadership: Develop strong and positive relationships with both internal and external customers.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- A tertiary qualification in law, Certificate IV in Municipal Law Enforcement, Diploma in Justice or equivalent and/or experience in the relevant field of law enforcement.
- Demonstrated experience in performing prosecutorial functions and duties in a demanding environment, including the appearance and representation as a prosecutorial advocate and the preparation, analysis and approval of briefs of evidence for proceedings at the Magistrates' Court and VCAT.
- Facilitation and coaching experience.
- A sound knowledge of the function and role of Local Government, specifically the regulatory and compliance environment, including relevant Acts and legislation.
Mandatory pre-employment requirements:
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
