This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for a variety of industries including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing experience across these different industries and gain exposure to new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and get to work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and other partners.

While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).

Responsibilities
  • Deliver design and planning activities for large-scale multi-discipline maritime facilities across various industries (defence, local government, state government, ports, sustainability).
  • Leverage maritime structural experience to deliver work from concept designs through to construction phase support.
  • Assume opportunities for leadership in project management and design management.
  • Engage in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client positioning.
Who you are / Qualifications
  • Experience in structural design including reinforced concrete and steel in the marine environment.
  • Experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, etc).
  • Experience in the design of berthing and mooring systems.
  • Experience in using structural analysis software (desirable skills: SPACE GASS, Strand 7, IDEAStatica).
  • Experience working with local governments, port clients, and/or the Defence sector.
  • Experience with maritime Australian and international design codes and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated skills in providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Ability to project manage and/or design manage small maritime projects.
  • Ability to engage with clients, pursue opportunities and win work.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain chartership within agreed timeframe).
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance.
