Royal Canin - Scientific Services Veterinarian – QLD

Here at Royal Canin, we have an exciting opportunity for a Scientific Services Veterinarian (SSV) to join the team.

Based in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, this role reports to the Melbourne-based, Health & Scientific Affairs Manager.

The Health and Scientific Affairs Team comprises four veterinarians and one veterinary technologist across ANZ. Each SSV liaises with key internal and external stakeholders on various projects, campaigns, events, and is responsible for leading and managing individual projects.

The role of the SSV within the organization is to lead initiatives with a strong scientific focus and to support other initiatives where veterinary consultancy adds value. The SSV is a key knowledge resource on pet health and nutrition.

Externally, the SSV will deliver accurate and consistent scientific messaging at seminars, events, and conferences to diverse stakeholders such as customers, veterinarians, breeders, and university students. The role involves approximately 25% travel, primarily within South East Queensland, with occasional interstate travel.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in Veterinary Science and current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of QLD.

    • Minimum of 5+ years of clinical experience with a strong network of veterinary specialists and professionals in Queensland.

      • A people person who enjoys educating, helping others learn, and building relationships.

        • A confident presenter and speaker across various audiences.

          • A commercially minded planner capable of prioritizing workload and comfortable with ambiguity.

            • A motivated individual with initiative, able to work autonomously and collaboratively.

              • Proficient in computer skills, ideally with experience in Microsoft Teams.

                • A valid QLD driver's license.

                  • Membership with ANZCVS is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in cross-functional teams and reviewing scientific content for marketing, education, and training materials targeted at key audiences.

    • Supporting our Consumer Care team with advice on complex nutrition cases.

      • Creating and delivering product and nutrition training for new staff, advisors, sales reps, and university ambassadors.

        • Delivering nutrition training and developing digital educational resources for key veterinary and retail accounts and universities across Queensland, with occasional travel to other Australian states.

          • Engaging with media, including social media initiatives, to educate audiences on pet nutrition.

            • Building relationships with influential Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and university hospitals aligned with local strategies.

              • Serving as the technical expert for the QLD & NSW sales teams, training and coaching territory managers on the Royal Canin portfolio, including new product information.
