At Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS), we support individuals to live with dignity, choice, and independence. As we continue to grow, we're expanding our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team and are currently seeking Residential Care Workers who are experienced, compassionate, and confident in supporting individuals with drug and alcohol histories, criminal justice involvement, and challenging behavioural environments.

This role involves working in a setting where participants may use strong language and present with unpredictable behaviours. You'll need to be resilient, adaptable, and committed to maintaining professional boundaries while fostering trust and positive engagement.

About The Role

This part-time role (20–30+ hours/week) involves delivering consistent, trauma-informed, and strengths-based care to participants in a residential environment. You will be a stabilising presence, supporting recovery, skill-building, and daily living.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide personal care: showering, continence care, dressing, mobility
  • Support clients with challenging behaviours, including verbal aggression
  • Administer medication and assist with healthcare routines
  • Encourage independence, recovery, and structured daily routines
  • Assist with domestic duties: cleaning, meal prep, laundry
  • Follow individual support plans, behaviour strategies, and incident protocols
  • Accurately complete daily documentation and progress notes

About You
  • Experience working with people with drug & alcohol histories or forensic backgrounds
  • Calm, confident, and trauma-informed in high-pressure environments
  • Skilled in positive behaviour support and de-escalation
  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to ongoing learning
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Requirements
  • Cert III/IV in Disability, Individual Support or related (highly regarded)
  • Experience with complex behavioural environments (highly regarded)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid & CPR, Australian Driver's Licence & reliable vehicle
  • COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations as per public health orders
  • Availability for morning, afternoon, and sleepover shifts
