About The Opportunity

NSW Health Pathology have an exciting opportunity for an Enrolled Nurse to join our Wollongong Hospital team in a permanent part time capacity.

Being a part of NSW Health Pathology means you're helping create better health and justice systems every day. We operate more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW and conduct over 60 million tests per annum.

You will be working for the collection department of NSW Health Pathology located in Wollongong Public Hospital. The collection department also provides collection services to all inpatients at Shellharbour, Bulli and Coledale Public Hospitals. Our home collection department provides home collection service to the Illawarra region, from Helensburgh to Kiama. You will be working only morning shifts but will be required to participate in a seven-day rotating roster.

What You'll Be Doing

Contribute to a customer-focused pathology collection service for inpatients and outpatients. Perform venepuncture and other duties pertaining to blood collecting and haematological investigations as required. Participation in all collection roles would be required

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification for administration of medication (including intravenous medication administration).
• Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff.
• Previous venepuncture experience, familar with pathology terminology and requirements and the willingness to learn paediatric and nenoate blood collections.
• Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology setting and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the work environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services, including the use of Patient, Rostering and Quality systems.
• Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities.
