Trade Overseer - Overseer Ground Maintenance 5D - Hunter Correctional Centre

Salary: $94,451pa + Incidental Allowance + Leave Loading + Superannuation
We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Trade Overseer to work at our Ground Maintenance Unit at the Hunter Correctional Centre, which is in Cessnock.

Trade Overseers are trade qualified Correctional Officers with the essential role of training and supervising inmates and staff in their work-related activities within a correctional centre. Successful candidates are provided with paid training to undertake Certificate III in Correctional Practice at an allocated Brush Farm Corrective Services Academy training facility.
Responsibilities- Supervise and develop inmates through managing, coaching, instructing, and encouraging them as members of a team to improve work skills, enhance post-release employment prospects, and contribute to Business Unit objectives.
- Oversee the activities of the team to ensure productivity, efficiency and achievement of commercial objectives while meeting Workplace Health & Safety, Quality Management requirements and customer service needs.
- Support and train inmates and staff in work-related activities within the correctional centre.
- Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety policies and related legislation.
- Be willing to work across varying trades in a flexible manner to support the team.
- Maintain a 5-day roster (rotating shifts 6am–2pm and 10am–6pm).
- Possess a trade qualification in Horticulture (Landscaping or Parks & Gardens), Construction, Carpentry, Plumbing, or other related trade (Certificate 3 Minimum).
- Hold a current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or have the capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice within specified CSNSW timeframes.
- Hold a current NSW Driver Licence and be prepared to drive a vehicle while performing the role.
- Forklift Licence or willingness to obtain one.
- Meet the Key Accountabilities and Focus Capabilities of the role.
- Provide a positive role model and demonstrate personal values, such as honesty, ethics and integrity, supporting CSI, CSNSW and social values.
- Contribute to business unit operations through the delivery of work-related inmate training, including Inmate Traineeships.
- Provide detailed input to case management reporting through the Work Readiness Program.
- Manage resources efficiently and effectively to achieve planned outcomes.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call roster and be willing to work overtime if required.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment for staff, contractors, inmates and visitors in compliance with Work Health & Safety legislation, policy and direction.
