KAS Tax & Business Solutions is seeking an Intermediate Tax Accountant to join our team in Varsity Lakes, QLD. This is a full-time position where you will play a vital role in providing high-quality tax and business advisory services to our diverse range of clients.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of taxation policies, procedures, and controls in alignment with relevant legislation and organizational goals
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance with statutory tax requirements
  • Conducting tax-related investigations and preparing reports on issues such as tax implications of business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and restructures
  • Analyzing income, expenditure, and operating costs to identify tax liabilities, deductions, and planning opportunities
  • Providing assurance regarding the accuracy and completeness of financial information in compliance with taxation laws and regulations
  • Offering expert taxation advice on business structures, strategic planning, and operational matters to optimize tax outcomes
  • Preparing and lodging tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies, and other entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax legislation
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), other regulatory authorities, financial institutions, and brokers regarding tax matters and funding arrangements
  • Introducing and maintaining tax accounting systems, and advising on the selection and implementation of software tailored to taxation reporting needs
  • Appraising the tax implications, cash flow impacts, and financial risks of capital investment and business development projects

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 1 years' experience in a similar tax accounting role
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation laws and compliance requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in using tax and accounting software such as Xero Practice Manager
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with clients
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field
  • CA or CPA qualification (or working towards) highly desirable
