The Client

AFS Logistics Australia Pty Ltd is an independently owned and operated Australian freight management company employing over 100 supply chain professionals. They now seek an experienced Accountant to join the team.

The Role

The position is a full-time Accountant role based in Melbourne Airport, VIC, with a salary range of $80,000 to $85,000 per annum.

The Responsibilities
  • Treasury operations including daily bank balance reporting and credit card management.
  • Cash flow analysis, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Bank reconciliations and month-end processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation and review of creditor and debtor accounts.
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register and Depreciation Schedules.
  • Management of Fringe Benefits Register and processing in OneSource or similar software.
  • Preparation of Board Papers and monthly reports.
  • Assistance with statutory returns, BAS, FBT, and external audit reporting.
  • Supporting tax compliance and account preparation.
  • Process improvement contributions and team support.
  • Ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and adherence to accounting principles.
  • Preparation of financial statements with appropriate disclosures.
  • Providing solutions based on current business conditions.
  • Maintaining financial data using MYOB.
  • Supporting process improvements and ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
The Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in Australia.
  • Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, or QuickBooks.
  • Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and tax regulations.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to Power BI/Analytics is a plus.
  • Ability to perform reconciliations and maintain financial records.
  • Experience managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask calmly and efficiently.
