About Barwon Health Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. Services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care. About The Facility Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac. The Aboriginal Health Unit and team is located with University Hospital and provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients and their families.

Needs some help applying? Contact our Aboriginal Workforce Officer (AWO). The AWO oversees the implementation of the Aboriginal Employment Plan and has regular contact with all Aboriginal employees and their Supervisors and Managers, acting as a cultural consultant and mentor. The AWO also actively encourages prospective work areas within Barwon Health to engage Aboriginal jobseekers and supports local Aboriginal community in regards to recruitment, workplace wellbeing and professional development.

There is a dedicated Aboriginal Health Unit based at University Hospital Geelong. The staff within the Unit provide cultural support and advocate for Aboriginal health in all its forms.
