Responsibilities
  • Apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.
  • Undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Participate in continuous shift work on a 24-hour rostering arrangement, including weekends and Public Holidays.
  • Initiate and/or contribute to the development of scientific practices, procedures, protocols, and research activities within a multi-specialist work area that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant.
  • Apply high level knowledge, skills, and experience to multi-specialist duties within the work unit with minimal clinical practice supervision out of hours.
  • Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification that enhance the delivery of pathology services within the local service area.
About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • At least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a multi-disciplinary laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
