Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Head of School to join School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health.

The Faculty of Health is seeking an inspiring, intellectually generous Head who can help advance the School's record of excellent research and teaching. This is an exceptional opportunity for a distinguished scholar and leader in a relevant discipline, someone with the strategic acumen and passion to lead one of Australia's premier schools of Biomedical Sciences forward.

The Faculty of Health is led by the Executive Dean and the Executive Management Team comprising the Deputy Dean, Heads of Schools, and other senior faculty staff. Each of the Schools within the Faculty is established around disciplines that promote integration and collaboration in teaching and research, and provide a sustainable foundation upon which to build areas of strength. QUT's School of Biomedical Sciences is internationally renowned for combining innovative research with high-quality teaching programs to address global health issues. The School's interdisciplinary and collaborative research focuses on key challenges in health, including cancer, genomics and infectious diseases. The School's discovery and enterprise generate knowledge and solutions that improve healthcare outcomes for individuals and communities both locally and internationally..

What you need to succeed

• Highly developed leadership ability as demonstrated by success in achieving objectives and in contributing to improved organisational performance.
• Demonstrated experience in leadership and management of large-scale teams, facilities, resources, and impactful innovation.
• An internationally recognised record of excellence in research and/or scholarship.
• Proven capacity for strategic leadership of learning and teaching and academic research.
• Substantial skills in promoting and fostering collaborative interdisciplinary endeavours and to build partnerships.
• Evidence of effective responses to contemporary issues in higher education and health.
• High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive team culture and effectively interact with a range of staff in a complex operating environment.
• Sound knowledge of equal employment opportunity and equity principles and of the principles of workplace health and safety with a demonstrated commitment to implementation at both the strategic and operational levels.
